Electronic Game review: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, Square Enix, G8+, RRP $99.95 ***

Has there ever been a game that demands so much? You can embark on an enjoyable adventure alone, but Chronicles was designed for up to four friends working together, slashing at enemies and using teamwork and strategy to unleash magic spells. Players carry a crystal and must stick together while exploring monster-filled locations to find the rare substance that maintains the crystal's power. It is incredible fun, easy to learn, and few games offer such thrilling co-operation. But each player must have a Game Boy Advance, link cable and lots of spare time, so it is a huge commitment. If new players join mid-adventure they will be hopelessly underpowered to deal with boss encounters, forcing a restart. For many, the beautiful worlds and unique action will not compensate enough for the hassle and expense.
